So i just moved to boise ID and my truck all of a sudden gets 20mpg? In vegas I could only get about 225 miles before my fuel light would come on; In boise my fuel light come on at 315miles!!!!! What the heck?
Fuel(blended/ethanol), mixture(fuel rich), terrain, speed, traffic, air conditioning. Based on some or all of the listed conditions, not unusual to see that kind of difference in MPG.

Nice. I bought my taco up in SLC, but I live in vegas. I know the first few tanks aren't accurate to vehicle mpg, but I was getting 20-21mpg my first 2 tanks there, and since I came home to Vegas, I have been doing 15-17mpg.
One thing I noticed is that I drive more aggresively here, since most the people in Summerlin (fancier part of town) are either doing 10 under the limit, or they are doing 20 over (no exaggeration). Because of that, I have to accelerate and brake erratically just to save myself. That paired with the blatant heat and watery gas (at least basic is 87 octane here, in SLC it was 85 octane for the same price).
I may be moving to Oregon, or Minnesota (depending on work), but I figure fuel economy should improve in either place, since they are flatter, cooler, and more copasetic traffic.
Have fun in Idaho, you lucky punk, I wish I could get out of this city sooner.
Heat can be a huge issue. I know Toyota is supposed to have a closed fuel system so no vapors escape, but when adding heat to gas, vapors will escape. Is enough gas escaping to cause that much decrease in mpg, who knows. Or it could have been your friendly neighborhood theif who was picking up a free gallon or two from you.

Boise is Kick ass compared to Vegas. I was born and raised in vegas 23 years! VEGAS DOUBLE SUCKS!!! I'm not upset at all but I was in shock when it first happened, I thought my gas light was broke but I'm at 250 miles and a little under a 3/8 a tank! I love it.
If you lived in Vegas it would make more sense. Las Vegas seems like a great place, and it is, in very very small doses.
I too am a Native Las Vegan, going on 24 years now. I feel like I am going to die every summer, its a little cooler today, with a current temp of 102 degrees.
Welcome to boise!! You'll have to start 4 bying with me and MParker now hehe. I found some really awesome trails up past Idaho city yesterday while 4 wheeling on my quad. Really awesome creek to cross with a washed out bridge. We'll have to plan a day to go!
