Please help! Crazy light pattern with Silverstars

Sorry for the post. I tried doing a quickie search but.... I just installed some Silverstars and the light pattern is all whacked out. Especially when I hit the high beams. The middle goes almost completely dark. Could I have put these in improperly?

There should be only one way to put the bulbs in. Maybe snap a pics of how they are installed? Maybe the filament inside the bulbs are f'ed up?

Just put some silverstars in last week. Did you make sure to put them the way that you pulled the stock ones out?

I just installed some SilverStars all round as well... I'll check mine out and see if there is a dead spot. I usually use the fogs as well so I didn't notice anything when I tried out the high beams.

I did my fogs and they look fine, but the headlights are horrible. I just checked them again and I believe they are in there correctly. Something has to be wrong. I must be missing something. I also have tried to put HID's in my truck and they would just flicker and would not light up. Maybe my truck will refuse all aftermarket lighting?

I ran silverstars before my HIDs, and I never noticed any dead spots in the lighting. Is it happening on both sides?

There was a short somewhere in your HIDs. Probably in one of the small roundish connectors.

The flat pins on the bulb should form an upside-down U shape.

If you look at the bulb, you'll see two filaments. One is shielded and one is not. If you're looking at the bulf from what would be the top, you should see both filaments and the shield should be on bottom.

it is happening on both sides but they are completely diifferent patterns and dead spots. The lights seem to be in just like they should be. Checked them again. They arent loose or anything. I had them in several other trucks with zero problems.

I know it sounds silly, but maybe you have dirty lenses or reflectors? Would it be possible for you to take some pictures of what's happening?

Thanks Taco. I will check them again. I gave up on them. We tried them in my neighbors Tundra and the work perfectly.

Maybe but the truck is 3 weeks old and the bulbs were new sealed in a package. I tried taking some pics but of course my camera batteries are dead. I will try again in a bit.

If you've had your headlights apart to do all those mods, especially as much modification as is necessary for the HID conversion, what are the chances you left something out? There's a little convex reflector that sits over the tip of the bulb which directs light from the concave lens on the sides to a more focused beam in the middle. If this piece is gone, it could make a difference in your directional output. I stole a picture from raytinman's black headlight mod and circled the part I'm talking about...

I checked mine for a good while last night and on high beams I have a seemingly perfect match, with no distinguishable overlap or gap between light patterns. Then I ran with the fogs on and everything looked great, had a nice fill driving along a dark highway late at night. There are adjustment screws for vertical adjustment, im not certain about horizontal, but there should be that as well, its possible that you may have adjusted them incorrectly at some point.
