Anything other than OME?

Ive read a lot about problems with the OME 885's sagging relatively quickly. How much validity is there to this? How much sag might I experience? They seem to be one of the few options on the market, but Im weary to get something thats gonna sag significantly within a few K miles of when I get it. Plus, I want to decide whether I will buy adjustable bilsteins with the 885's. I figure I could set them at the stock height and when the coils settle I could just tae the bilsteings up a notch. I guess my biggest question is whether there are any oter coils I should look into? I dont want DHoes or anything like that yet.

you dont have much of a choice if you want new coils to lift your truck. you could go with a spacer but that would make your ride worse. save the cash and get some donahoes.

I've had the OME 884 coils on my '05 Access Cab for quite a while with no sagging issues yet.

ditto what grimm said about saving for donahoes. coilovers will not sag like the OME coils do, and its a considerably more comfy ride. only down side i think = $$$

You could always try a spacer lift.

It's not what you wanted to hear, but Grimm hit the nail on the head. There's not really anything else out there. I wanted an inexpensive suspension lift as well, but when I heard about the sagging (especially on double cabs) and the harsher ride of the OME coils, I decided to be patient and do it right. I've finally got the 'hoes and TC UCAs on order and can't wait to put them on.

I got a 3" lift by Tuff Country with spacers in the front and aal's in the back and it rides absolutely perfect. It's a little more expensive than the other lifts but the quality is worth it.

Dont mean to highjack the thread but I am noticing the same sag with my toytec 3" lift. Everything else is stock. Is there a website for the DOnahoe coilovers that I can read about and shop for pricing?

Damn.... yea, I have big plans for my Taco when I have the disposable income to support it, but for now I wanted something that was gonna give me some suspension help with good on-road and off-road characteristics. Eventually Id like to go with something similar to the Rock Krawler 5.5inch system and fiberglass fenders and all that jazz. I guess I can deal with sag if its just a temporary... maybe ill be patient and go with the AllPro set up. Is there any reason why I havent seen more people going with AllPro? Seems like they make a great product at a reasonable price... is there something I dont know about?

Hey you might want to call up Downey Off Road in Santa Fe Springs, CA. I was there the other day and they have a set up similar. There website didn't have much but the guys there seemed pretty cool when I swung by.

Just to clear something up? All coils will sag! Even DR's. But the advantage of DR's is that you can adjust them to compensate for the drop. But really the sag isn't going to be very big! 1/8"-1/4" would be a good range of settling. The OME coils are of good quality so it should not be a big deal.

Good Luck!

I have had mine on there for about 35k and have not experienced any sagging. I have the complete kit from toyota of dallas, top plate spacers from toyotec, and TC UCA's. I think that the truck rides great.

Yes, all coils do sag.... every lift ive ever installed has sagged a little. I was hesitant because of how severe a few people made it sound. There were a few who said that they felt like it had sagged back to the stock ride-height. I dont care if they sag 1/4", thats no big deal. Ok, Im not worried about it now, Im gonna order the OME's and when the time comes go all out on the suspension.

Thanks guys.

thanks for clearing that up. i was confused about it myself. does sagging explain why my tires might be rubbing now? they were rubbing when i got the new tires installed, so i did some minor trimming and it took care of the rub. but now it's starting to rub again at full lock. due to coils sagging? should i trim a little more?

btw... i have the toytec OME lift
