I am planning on getting a TRD Sport Tacoma soon - im really excited always wanted a tacoma, i plan on getting it at the beginning of August. Ive got a road trip planned at the end of July, so going to wait after that to get the tacoma.
Anyways, i wanted to ask a few questions. Hope im not being too intrusive.
*Im looking at getting an access cab, will i regret not getting the crew cab?
*I will use it as a daily driver and utility vehicle, is the sport edition probably my best option?
*Im coming from a current model Maxima, is there a big difference? (this seems to be the biggest thing i hear most, that i will miss driving a car vs. a truck - but im just a daily driver so i dont think it will be that big of a change)
*What price range should i look at? Right now on carsdirect.com an access cab short bed is $21,961 and a crew cab short bed is $24,185. My only options were adding the TRD Sport and tube steps.
Thanks all for your help, i look forward to being on this board in the near future

You needto look at your needs? Do you have afamily? If so? How many kids? Try to look into the future like past 5+ years? You don't want to buy something and find out next year that you have buyers remorse?
Any ways I have the Dbl Cab 4x4 and I love it! Works great for myself, my wife and my son. I don't haul big items, so the short bed works fine for my needs!
Well, it's all a matter of money, family, friends, etc. of how your going to use it and what you're going to haul but, I'm 43 and have bought my fair share of new vehicles. I would get the crew cab. You could get the access cab and find yourself wishing you had the crew. But it's doubtful you'd be wishing you only had an access if you had the crew. Besides, unless you put a cover or cap on the bed, groceries and whatnot will need a place to be secured. Is an access enough for this?
Going car to truck should not be too big an issue. It's not going to handle or ride like your Maxima but it's pretty darn good for a truck.
Keezer Philosophy: Buy all the truck you can afford/want even if you never use half the stuff. It's not like you can get the crew cab added on later.
Hey silvermouse. Glad to hear you'll be joining us in Tacoma ownership.
Car vs Truck Ride Quality: There will be a difference, obviously, but the ride quality (even of TRD models) is much smoother and compentent than trucks made years ago. I had a 91 Toyota 4WD and it definitely rode like a truck.
TRD Sport vs Other Trim Levels: If I recall, TRD Sport and TRD Off-Road are very similar mechnically. The difference is Off Road has a rear differential locker and Sport has color-keyed grill and hood scoop. I'm sure others here can outline any further differences.
Access Cab vs DoubleCab: I prefer the looks of the DCs to the Access Cabs, but only slightly. Like Toku said, guesstimate what your family circumstances will be 5+ years out.
Atlanta and 5150: I lived in Atlanta from 1995 to 2001. Great place. I worked in Chamblee and lived just south of Woodstock. I like the "5150" part of your handle. I'm assuming it indicates a Van Halen fan. I was a big fan of that band. Too bad Eddie is oblivious to his own irrelevance now. Hopefully that'll change soon. I'd love to hear some new tunes.

Hey thanks, and thanks to everyone so far.
Yeah, i think i am going to go double cap, its only about $2225 difference.
The "5150" is actually police code for when a situation occurs and doesnt really fit into a category but needs to be dealt with. i.e.: when someone is barking at the moon.
Atlanta is great, but the traffic is getting insane! We really need a commuter train!
The sports package gives you a hood scoop, body color grill and bumper, sports shocks, limited slip differential, and an electrical ouitlet in the bed. The off road package gives you progressive coils, off road shocks, an electronic rear differential locker, and an electrical outlet in the bed. Both ride pretty much the same as stock. I have the SR5 because I planned to modify my truck and I liked the clean look of it. The double cab long bed 4x4 gives me everything I need and it suits me perfectly. Make sure you know what you're getting before you get it or you'll be stuck with it yearning for someone else's truck.
