The first sub system I ran im my truck (96 xcab) was 2 10" in separate boxes. When I had people sitting in the back I could stack them on one side. Ive been able to fit 2 people back there with that set up. I currently run 1 12" in a ported (big) box behind the drivers seat. I can still fit people in the passenger side and if its my wife friends I may be able to fit to of them . At one point I had 2 12" in sealed boxes, but it didn't sound right and no one fit in the back at all.
Ive tried running bass tubes (bazooka, alpine, and another one?) but I couldn't get the boom (and volume) that I wanted. The ported 12" so far is the best set up Ive ran. I did an article on one truck that had pounded the floor out in the under storage area and put 2 10"s in there, but it didn't sound that great either. It was done nice by a known shop, fiber glassed inside and looked good.
