Sharing the Wealth- Traction Mod

Alright, heres a mod that us frontier guys have done, and I just did it recently.

I figure it will work just as well for you guys, so Ill post it.

This mod, which essentially are your basic helper springs mounted backward, are supposed to eliminate the clunk and as an added bonus act as traction bars helping to put the torque to the ground for quicker take offs without unneccessary wheel spin or hop. This noise is apparently cause due to axle wrap under hard accelleration.

Total Install time was less than 30 minutes. I got them from Advance Auto for $24.95. They are the Dynachrome Leaf Spring Helpers, Part # 18921.

Here are a couple pics

That was a write up made by the guy that found this out. Heres my take on it.

OHHH MAMA!!!!

I have CC, and I got these leaf spring helpers. WHOLY COW! They work so good. I went down the road before I put them on, and I went 35 mph and yanked the wheel like 15 degrees back and forth and the body was rolling tremendously. I put them on. And it just straightens its self out like my old Porsche. AMAZING! the cheapest and best 25 buck mod you can do.

Only small downside I found was that I can feel the bed shutter more than what I could before, but the good far out way the bads.

I went on a highway today, and I can go into the on and offramps so much faster, probably 15 mph faster, plus the wind on the highway doesnt push the truck around more. It stay planted much better.

So go ahead see if it worked as well on your trucks as it did for mine.

yea, basically the plastic part is towards the cab.

And I dont know how this could be unsafe? It is made to increase the bed weight to 1500 pounds more. An engineer on the site found that if you do this, it just prevents axle wrap and increases traction rather than increasing bed weight. Even the instructions talk about increasing traction.

If you look at the pic closely, theres a thick plastic peice to prevent making scratches and noises.

ok cook...how with this mod effect axle articulation?....would it make the rear springs stiffer and maybe hinder its offroad capabilities?

i know many people have used it offroading and have not had problems with it.

Im not an engineer, so I dont know exactly how it does it. I know its a bit stiffer, but I do know it works
