Thumbs down 4x4mod.com switches breaking

I've had 2 of these switches break on me now. There is a plastic finger that goes from the switch panel down into the switiching mechanism. This little finger breaks at the base, and leaves the switch useless. Gluing it is a waste of time.

Sorry that I recommended these switches to some of you guys.

I gotta find something to replace them.

I was literally walking outside to put one of these switches in my truck when I decided to check on TN.

Do you have anything in mind for a replacement yet?

Edit: How about Carling Contura switches? 4x4mods.com says they fit in the same size hole.

These don't have any cool labels, but I know that these are quality switches. Plus I live near a Grainger warehouse. http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/3JC11

Contura switches don't have pretty labels either, but I can personally vouch for their quality.

My last boat had about 20 Carling Contura switches in it and they were awesome. I never had one break or even act funny. And they're water resistant, and some are even sealed and waterproof.

Also, ARB apparently includes the Carling Contura in their locker kits.

Edit: ^^This company charges $7.50 if you don't order $20 worth of stuff. Maybe there's a better place to order these from?

This is a good deal. McGill switches are made in the USA. Not sure about their reputation though. http://cgi.ebay.com/McGILL-EURO-STYL...QQcmdZViewItem

Hell PB. You could get those and sell them for $5 each to everyone that bought the 4x4mods switches. You'd make a killing.

I just talked to a friend of mine who works at a local marine supply store and he said you can get the Contura switches from just about any marine supply store or boat mechanic.

You can get labels on the carling switches.
http://rocker-switches.carlingtech.c...9.asp#elibrary

At the bottom of the page next to where it references the library, click on the red words to see the labels.

Uh oh! I just ordered a switch from them yesterday. I ordered the 40 series. Are your broken switches 40 series or the 30 series, PB?

Have you contacted 4x4 mods to see if they will offer a free replacement. Even if you don't want to use their switches again, it would still bring it to their attention that there is a quality problem.
