I'm planning to install my URD intake tomorrow. I've read the instructions and things look fairly straight forward. Do you guys have any tips? Any things to watch out for? What was the biggest headache? Thanks.
The included instructions are very good. I followed them word for word and never questioned anything. Probably the hardest part (for me) was working the soldering iron around under the dash to get to the very short wires you tap in to. Even then, it wasn't too terribly tough.
I used an air nibbler to cut the sheet metal... worked awesome. Had to take out the headlight tho.
Good luck.. you'll love it!!

If you can getyour hands on a skil saw or somethin similar, use that. I had to use a dremel and the angles were hard to cut. Removing the passenger side headlamp should help you cut the radiator support.
If you can, get some more "Heat Shrink Tubing" for the connections under the dash. There is nothing wrong with using electrical tape, but I have always been partial to heat shrink.

Agreed about removing the headlamp first. It'll save you some time and frustration in the long run. Use a skill saw or sawzall if you can get your hands on one. I've got one you can borrow if you need to.
Parts of the job will definitely help to have an extra set of hands, especially when adjusting and tightening up everything at the end. The instructions are very good, but call me if you run into any snags or have any questions. Sorry I can't be there to help.
We already installed his MAF sensor calibrator, so there's nothing for him to solder under the dash. I used both heat shrink tubing and electrical tape for the soldering under the hood, but I'm a belt and suspenders kinda guy.
Thanks for the feedback guys. Like Flux stated, the MAF calibrator is already in place. I went in search of a sawzall at Lowes and Home Depot and came up empty. Most of them were well over $100. I saw one Black and Decker for $40 but they were sold out. Maybe Sears might have something.
Just curious, have you all noticed a difference with the MAF recalibrator installed? I have a downey intake under the hood and a gibson stainless cat-back exhaust, will I notice a difference with the MAF recalibrator?
Thanks
Frankly, I didn't even get started Flux. Spent some time looking for the right tool and the rest running errands with the wife. Tomorrow is shot as well with some out town plans. I may have to wait until you're free one day. I'm not in any real hurry though. I'm sure I'm going to love it.
