USA OEM Head Unit Upgrade

Upon my return from Iraq next month, I will be upgrading my OEM Stereo system.

I have the 06, Access cab, 4X4 Sport, with OEM non-JBL, six CD changer head Unit. I have followed the discussion here, listened to Cam's advise and searched the stickys!!

I have alreday purchased the following:
  • Diamond D5 300.4 Amp
  • Pioneer TS-c 720rps Component speakers
  • Raammat from Rick
  • Stinger amp wiring kit & Speaker wires
  • Speaker & door kits from Tacotunes
Now, I would like some expert advise on head units, preferably from folks that have experience with these models or are in the car audio aftermarket install/sales business.

I have narrowed it down, in order of preference, as follows:

1. Pioneer DEH-P690UB
2. Panasonic CQ-C 8803U
3. Alpine CDA-9885/83

Primary consideration in selection was ues of Ipod and ease of controls for the same.

Please advise, looking for Feedback !

Thanks.

If I am not mistaken, I believe your truck can actually take a big screen radio (at least that's what I call them). I recommend getting that so it will look more factory installed look.

But of course it cost more and it looks like the radio you have choosen cost $300 or under.

All of them looks nice so I let someone else answer your question.

aka "Double Din"

For single din, have you checked out the Pioneer 880PRS? It's a lot of bang for the buck.

I prefer to stay with single DIN.

All three units are good pretty equal I'm sure, but I just want to get some feedback from those have these or other units of the same manufacturer, that also have the I-Pod hook ups.

Ease of navigation for your music, sound, likes, dis-likes, just any comments would be welcome !!

Thanks !

You want to try http://www.amazon.com/ and http://www.crutchfield.com/ they let people review products there so you may find some comments about it.

Hammee...you will love the 720's and I have Ramatt/Ensolit'd my truck also. Personally I would stick with the Pioneer. You might want to check out CustomTaco, a lot of knowledge over there on brands.

Duckman,

Thanks for the advice.
That was pretty much my line of thinking !!

Now I found out I can get the Pioneer DEH-690UB for about $220 shipped, and for about the same price I can get the discontinued DEH-P780MP. That is an awsome unit !! So I have to weight my options again!!

Anybody have the P780MP ?? How do you like it ?? I-pod contr0ls easy to navigate ??
