Oil capacity with longer filter

I've been using the Wix 51516. It fit's our truck but is longer/taller. I had written down the correct capacity increase for the V6 with that filter but can't find it.

I'm coming up empty with a search too. Anyone know the correct capacity with this filter?

Thanks

TL

It's ether 5.5 or 6 quarts, I can't remember which though. I put 6 quarts in mine this last oil change (I am using the Mobil M1-209) but I think I may have overfilled it...it so freakin hard to read our dipsticks...

5.5 qts is factory(prerunner/4WD)
The original factory filter is larger than the replacement Toyota OEM. I remember a previous post that the WIX filter is approx .17 to .30 larger than the OEM, not sure if this was reference to the original factory installed filter or the replacement OEM.

As far as reading the dipstick what I found works for me. Pull the dipstick all the way out and wipe it clean. Stick it back in about 6 inches so most of it hangs out. Wait 5-10 minutes for all the oil in the tube to drain back down. Then push the dipstick all the way in with one thrust, pull it all the way out and read it. One side or the other usually will have a solid line of oil that is easy to read. The problem with the long tube is that oil seems to seep up into it and won't easily drain back down with the stick inserted. If you repeatedly pull and replace the dipstick it makes it worse because each time you pull it out you drag more oil back up into the tube.

5.5 quarts will fill my truck to the full line. I can not see the bigger filter holding more than .2 quarts more than the other smaller filters. try 5.5 and go from there.

Thanks for the help. I may just have to work until I get it right. I know Boone or someone once posted what seemed like an accurate capacity when using this filter. I think it was in the thread about oil that pointed me to the 51516 origially but I can't find that thread again.

i just scored my dipstick with hash marks. my 22re's dipstick was like that, and it was easy to read.

Came to just about 5.5qt. I might be a hair shy of the totally full line.
