powder coat black skid plate?

thanks to Screeber for selling me his offroad skid plate. I have black westin side-steps and the black mesh grills. Should I have the skid plate power-coated black? Anyone done it and know how much it should cost?

Stock already looks like it has a powdercoated skidplate. Just my opinion!

I painted mine flat black and clear coated it. I think they look better black on white and silver trucks.

Did you just spray paint yours and then clear coat it? I have been wanting to have mine powder coat also but if spray paint will hold up...

Yes, I sprayed it with 2 cans of flat black and about 1 and 1/2 can of clear. It's been about a month and so far it still looks new. I figured I could always get it powder coated later if I wanted to.

I think it would look good black. Powdercoating would work, but would be alot more expensive than a rattle can (and more durable). You could get some of that hammer finish spray can stuff as a cheaper option.

I say spay-paint it and save the money. Make sure you really sand it well with a fairly rough grain sandpaper, then use primer, sand it again, then paint, then clear.

It will piss you off a lot less to touch that up as opposed to having a huge chip in your powdercoat.

Little late here, but I think the black skid plate would look sweet. I would first try the paint method and if it doesn't hold up, then go powercoat.

well i did the skid plate last night, sorry for the darkness, but it really blends the front of the truck much better. Thanks a lot Farmer for putting me on trying the spray painting method first.
