Standard Cab Speaker Replacement Suggestions

First off I'm getting conflicting information on the speaker size for my '07 Tacoma standard cab. Can someone verify the size and recommend a good replacement speaker? I don't want to replace the head unit, just want a better sounding speaker....
Thanks in advance.

The front door speaker is a 6.5" round mid.

It's the same as a rear speaker in an access cab or double cab.

The speaker mounting baffles sold by Marv and Tacotunes made for the rear speakers will work for the front doors of a regular cab.

I recommend you get ahold of Marv and he can cut the baffle to the exact mounting diameter of the speaker you choose, and the right thickness of the baffle to work with your mid.

I'd rec. the Pioneer TS-C720PRS components from Pioneer. You can get them for about 250 shipped online at Millionbuy.com or hit up your local dealer and see if they can get close to that price.

Really? Why didn't they do 6x9's like all the other Tacoma front doors? I figured all 05+ Tacos had the same front doors.

I think it might have to do with the manual window crank arms. Kinda unfortunate because you don't get the option of mounting a 10" woofer in your door like we can

I'd like to revive this thread...
I also have a standard cab with 6.5" speakers and would like to upgrade to these:

Will they fit?

Yeah, I think so. I hear the work pretty good though. The price seems right and if they fit, I may give it a try. Do you think it'd work?

Pb sings pretty high praises for these speakers. I have a regular cab that uses 6.5 speakers in the front. The Dayton's don't come in 6.5 but I was just wondering if I could squeeze these in, maybe with a little grinding.

this is from a PM Reply Cam2Xrunner sent me "For the rear midbass, I would use the Dayton RS180-4 from Partsexpress.com They have really good midbass and they're inexspensive."

these are Mid Bass only and would need crossing over and a tweeter but there are other Dayton drivers on that site that should work

Thanks for the links! I'm just wondering if I could sqeeze these into the 6.5" hole in my truck before I pull the trigger. I heard of folks using larger speakers in smaller factory diameters but not how they did it.

A little grinding and some Mr Marv's speaker baffles (at least that's what I've read)
