yez yez, it waz I. here i am, i am here. I have not come, i have arrived.
sorry, there was no DIY. i just did it and never told anyone by accident. people just started asking me about it when they saw my pics.
I used just the hardware that came to with the hella black magics. also, use a metal plate would be a good idea when you bolt the mount the the grille to spread the load cause it fits tight between the top and bottom and the plastic flexes. i didnt do that, and have left it that way cause i have not seen any stress cracks in the plastic. here are the pics.

I have heard they bounce around. The plastic on the grill is not that great of a support.
I agree. I mounted mine on the bottom part of the grill plastic; even with metal reinforcement the lights bounce around and are hard to aim. I'm going to make a custom bracket, but still have the lights behind the grill... soon when I get more time
i think it looks pretty cool. it looks good with the mesh grilles, but does anyone have lights behind their billet grille? is it even noticeable at all? or not even worth the $$
there's a lot of room in there. you can easily fab some bar to go through there to mount the lights solid. with all that space back there, it's tempting to put something in there. maybe I should opt for some train horns like PB

For now see my sig pic.
mine are on the top and dont bounce around. the aiming seems to be alright to me also. i'll be interested in seeing what you do.

I've had a set of lights to mount behind my billet grille for a while, but I just haven't gotten arount to it.
I'm thinking of making a bracket that comes off the radiator support because my lights are probably too heavy for the plastic.
I'm thinking about maybe a piece of 2x2 aluminum angle. Bolting it to the core support and then mounting the lights on that. I don't know how much clearance I'm going to have on the condenser or if they'll be close enough to the grille to get any real light output.
I'll probably be mounting them sometime next week because I'm leaving for Arkansas tomorrow. I'll keep ya'll posted.
i mounted some of those cheesy lookin' low profile ones on a 98 f150 i had. it looked great on there, but i had a piece of METAL to mount them to. i'd say as long as you didn't hit the speed bumps too hard at the mall they'd be fine. other than that, i would wire them up and turn them on for a little bit and see how hot they got on the back side. that would make the radiator and a/c condenser less efficient. probably not enough to notice, but still.
