Recommend a toneau cover?

What's up guys, new to this forum, but not new to custom auto's or their web forums

Planning on picking up a new Tacoma this summer, there's a few things I'm going to get for it right off the bat, one of which is a toneau cover. Anyone have any experiences with them?

I'm looking for any recommendations on brands and also mailorder places to have one shipped to me.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Nope... I don't think anyone around here has a tonneau.

I would NOT recommend the Extang RT soft tonneau.

I really like my Roll n' Lock tonneau. My only gripe, if you can call it that, is that, since I use my truck as a truck (i.e., hauling ATVs, rocks, mulch, lumber, elk, deer and firewood), it sometimes gets in the way. I'd say the Roll n' Lock is better suited for an urban hauler than a working truck. Hence, mine is for sale in the "For Sale" thread. (shamless plug)

I've been running soft tonneau covers on all my previously owned trucks for years. Tonneau covers are GREAT to have.

I've always purchased the cheaper (soft) versions with snaps. They all served my purposes very well over the years. Although - this year, I bought a soft tonneau tri-fold and lovin it also.

Soft tonneaus are nice that you can keep stuff dry and you can roll it up at anytime to be able to haul something home with you. No need to store it anywhere. It stays on the truck all the time. The only thing I hate about the soft tonneau WITH SNAPS - NEVER unsnap it or remove it in the winter or you'll never get it back on.

So...this year...I bought a different type of soft tonneau cover for my 2007. No snaps...
It's a soft tonneau that folds in 3 places. You can drive around with it folded (at the back) or you can remove the entire frame completely.

It's made by Advantage and called Torza Top (Tri-fold).

I have one from Undercover. The fit is nice and can be removed within seconds which was the main reason I bought it. I load my off-road motos often and taking the tonneau off is simple and effortless. Here is there web site: http://www.undercoverinfo.com/

Toneau covers

As far as ordering one from online vendors, stay away from 4wheel online. Customer service is not something they are familiar with. They still have not credited us after sending the wrong part and charging us to send it back. My dad and I just installed a retrax on his tacoma, took less than an hour. Looks good and only takes up about 10 inches when retracted.

The best tonneau cover hands-down is the Undercover hard shell tonneau. Lifts like a hood. It is STRONG and secure and quality made. It even keeps the bed dry from heavy rain. It installs to the existing rail system in your truck, so no drilling is required. It also secures your tailgate when it's locked so have no fear of someone stealing your tailgate.

If you're looking for cheap, the undercover isn't for you. Mine cost around $600 (installed.) However, it is one of the best on the market. I'm sold. I'll buy one for my next truck too.

I will second this. I love mine. Its strong enought to stand on, very secure, and VERY easy to install/remove when needed. Stays dry inside. I highly recommend!

That is, of course, unless if you want something color-matched and your ride isn't black or the finish of it just doesn't work for you.

I've got a SnugTop SL and it does everything I need, even has remote entry and curls over the gate for that much more security (so far, anyway). Of course, it'll run you a bit more than the Undercover.

Access makes a really nice roll up bed cover. That's is what I have. Very nice, clean look.
