Blackstone said it's normal, however this was the 4th change of oil in the truck...I've seen a few from other tacomas w/ ~11k that had a little less and some with hardly any metals.. guess I'll see how the next one goes.
I just wonder since Mobil has changed it's base if that hasn't had something to do with the high metal content. I would have been curious to see if running Amsoil would have resulted in the same analysis. Where you using the Mobil filter as well?
Here is a nice post on Castrol 0W30 also known as GC ( German Castrol ) , available throughout the USA and at Canadian Tire / Walmart in Canada. Specific says made in germany on the back of the bottle.
Well...it still is a relatively new engine...this oil was used from 6k to 10.4k miles. However, I changed the factory oil @ 125mi, changed again at 1200 mi w/ m1, then at 6k again w/ m1. Been using a mobil m-102 filter since the 1200 mi change.
I saw a couple of Boone's uao's and his report at 11k mi was super clean. Might just have to do with how hard I drove it the first 6k miles...I babied until around then.
I went to german castrol this change w/ m-102...just have to check it out then. like they said I'm sure its nothing to worry about, this difference between mine and others is odd though.
does anyone have anything better to do than test your freeking oil?

The main thing is, you are analyzing your oil! Do you have a fumoto valve yet? Having the fumoto valve will allow you to take enough oil out for another sample without having to do a full oil change.

I wonder if you changed to synthetic too soon and didn't allow the engine to break in with the factory oil.
Posible i guess..might just wearing slower rather than all it once...the oil i took out at 125mi was loaded with visible metal shavings, no thanks. mobil says on their site its perfectly fine to go straight to synth as well. ill email blackstone and see if they have avgs for this engine.

The text in their comments are common -for 1st or 2nd oil change.
I'd be a little concerned, though not freaking out yet, about two things -
a) you've flushed with several previous oil changes, and had a 6k run prior to this oil fill. You'll have break-in for some time, but still, those numbers seem high enough at this point to make me wonder -especially when you note the metal shavings (not unheard of, but not really common from a modern factory engine -not a rebuild).
b) the silicon numbers are high. That can be from a lot of things (and in the first 5k oil change, easily from sand casting residue), but it's often an indication of filtration not up to par -often the air filter. (Are you using a K&N or some other non-OEM filtration?)
My UOA at 15084odo (4364 on dino Castrol w/ Purolator filter):
Al 3

Tin Moly, Nickel, Mang, Silver, Ti, Potassium, Boron all 0
Silicon 13
Calcium 2122
Magnesium 9
Phos 804
Zinc 996
By contrast, my wife's 2006 Honda Ody at 1st oil change (4917mi)
Al 14
Cr 1
Fe 22
Cu 82
Pb 6
Moly 390
Mang 2

Phosphorus 728
Zinc 902
Barium 6
The msg with the Ody's report was similar to yours.
I'm curious if they realize that this is your 4th change, and that this oil went in at 6k, out at 11k.

The column to the far right of your report holds their avg data for that engine -according to their comments, this is for 4600 mi -though it's not clear, I believe that's 4600 mi of oil use after an engine is well broken in. (Their numbers look low for a first oil change though.)

Yep using the URD intake for most of this oil's life..I added a drycharger wrap on it a few weeks ago, so if silicon goes down next change I wont know if it was residue/sealer or if the intake was sucking in a lot of dirt... I'm not sure if the drycharger adds much protection from dust. Just have to see I suppose. The amsoil filter is a solid filter regardless. I emailed blackstone letting them know it was the 4th change, etc....i shoulda added that to the comments when I sent it in.
otoh, i saw on oil drop someone had #s that were similar on an 05 taco w/ 12k miles... their Fe, Cu and Si were also all pretty high.
