How's the A/C work on your Tacomas? I'm somewhat disappointed with the A/C on my 07. It's probably the weakest A/C I've had in any vehicle since my 1970 Opel. It usually doesn't get real hot in our area but when the temperature hits the mid 80's it seems like the air doesn't blow very cold. I'd be hating life if I moved back to Phoenix. Thought I'd ask a question to find if this was typical
mine seems to pull its weight, but i have to get moving once i've started it up for it to really cool down. naturally, traffic/stop-go oesnt work as well. i'm thinking about doing Pb's elec fan mod

outside air is 80 and ur having problems? sounds like your AC needs a diagnostic...if dealer says its fine, take it to a specialist or something.
AC flush?? or maybe your just turing it on and not really moving. I know that when i just turn it on and i'm sitting there it won't be to cold, but once i'm driving the temp drops pretty fast.
Well then, maybe there's hope .... but my experience with automotive A/C says that once it's broken it needs to be repaired again every year or so. Glad I got the extended warranty.
Oh and BTW, I think that older vehicles, say, pre 1990's had better AC cuz they could use a different type of coolant that is now banned. I'm not an expert so i can't say what the diff coolant types are but i'm pretty sure i'm telling the truth
R12 or R134

Mine sucks!! Especially in phoenix when its 115 out. Everyday after work when I get in my truck, I sweat the whole way home because the truck doesn't cool off.

I'd expect it to be somewhat weak with no air moving through the condenser but at highway speeds on recirc the air is not real cool, maybe 30 degrees below outside air temp. I'd expect it to be in the 40 degree range at the vent. I remember our old Buicks in Phoenix and the metal vents on those used to frost over.
get a pen thermometer and check the a/c temp out of the vent.
close all vent except one of the center ones leave the a/c in recirculation fan speed on low and all the windows up.
as an example vent temp should go down to below 40 degrees farenheit if ambient temp is 80.
a really good cooling system will go as low 34 degrees out of the vents.
vent temp is also related to ambient temp the hotter it is outside the less cooler the vent temp will be.
i did notice that when i first bought the truck the a/c will cool so good but know its just like any other it may be do to the higher temperatures.
there was also a guy that insulated the low pressure (cold lines) in the engine compartment so the engine heat wont transfer to the a/c cool lines. i work on cars and im not an engineer but i would think that this would work right guys?
