I had parts on order from the tailgate TSB and I just hear from my service advisor that they couldn't get the parts in because Toyota stopped manufacturing the supports. I have heard something about that on here I believe. According to them the reinforcements weren't quite up to par.
Here is the big part. (Directly from Totyota) There will be a new tailgate TSB where the complete tailgate will be replaced with a modified stronger design. She told me that since I am in the system as soon as the new TSB is released I will be getting a new tailgate! Straight from Toyota - this new TSB is supposed to be released around December. (We know how those dates go. Could be sooner or later.)
BTW, I don't have a damaged tailgate. I just kept pushing them on the fact that I wanted this performed as a preventative measure before the whole tailgate was damaged and needed to be replaced. Now I am getting a new tailgate anyway.
Hope they don't run into a problem with paintmatching since they all will have to be painted when they come from the factory most likely. I know major body panels don't come from the factory pre-painted. MAybe these will.
Good luck guys!

It's for reasons like this that I'm in no hurry to take my '07 in for either the tailgate or leaf springs TSB's. I have plenty of warrentee time left, don't haul heavy stuff much and don't plan on bending the tailgate. I'm waiting until sometime in 2008 and I'll have all those issues resolved at once. My fear is, those who get the TSB for the tailgate now, will not have the opportunity to get the newly-designed one once it becomes available. I'm waiting, until Toyota figures out what they really want to do.
