Radio Error Message

To start off I have done a serch and was unable to find an answer to this. I get in the truck after work today. Start it up, turn on the radio and ...Nothing. Except a strange display. It read: FM1 CHA' 1 -7.9 MSG. I turn it off and on, same result. I turn the truck off and keyed up the radio and it then read: FM1 NO PTY. I got home and disconnected the Ipod2car, same results. I disconnected the battery for 20 minutes and reconnected same results. Does anyone have any direction other than after market or dealer. Did i just get lucky and end up with a crap radio. Any help would be appreciated. TIA

Mark

Seems like it has something to do with the Radio Broadcast Data System.

Read a little bit about RDS here

Check your owners manual and see if you have RDS,

you may just need to switch back to normal radio operation.

i've seen the 'NO PTY" message, and i know that has to do with the RDS, I would assume that message is normal. I'm going on a limb here and assuming that the radio still plays and puts out a station? If so, then I'm thinking that your "MESSAGE" button is stuck somehow.

It wasnt able to function at all. I removed the fuse, checked the connectors on the back of the unit, put it back together and the damn thing works. I cant explain it. But hopefully it is fixed for good. Damn radio gremlins I guess. Thanks for all the input
