Hi, just curious as to what everyones insurance rates are? I've been looking around, trying to find the best deal as to where to go...
I'm ready for a truck, one of the many reasons i'm leaning on getting the tacoma is because of the engine size. I know insurance has alot to do with the size of the engine. sure the v8s are nice, but sure hurts with insurance. I know age affects too. I'm 20, so I know that doesn't help me out much. sooooo, back to my question- what type truck do you guys have, what is your age, what do you pay, and where are you through? hahaha, thats alot of questions!!! ... thanks

Im 21, i drive a 2007 tacoma dbl cab shrt bed 4X4 sport..... i have full cvg with 1k ded's for comp and coll and have a fairly decent amount of liability cvg for my age 50,000/100,000. My rates right now are $700 every 6 months.... (would be ower but got a speeding ticket just b4 i got the truck goin 70 in a 45) w/o the ticket my insurance in $495 every 6 months..... i have USAA, and i work there too as an insurance adjuster. Dont know if youre eligible (dad in the military? grandparents? mom?) but if you are, its the cheapest company most of the time...... rates reall do depend on your location too. where do you live? and liek you said, age does matter. although once i turned 21 my rates wend down a bit too. just let me know if you have any ?'s about what u should quote if you have any.

I have an 05 DCAB prerunner 4.0L v6, My insurance is through USAA my rate is $620.00 every 6 months for full coverage and $250.00 deductible. Oh and i am 23. It is difficult to get insurance with them if you are not military or know someone who is already insured with them.

sorry, forgot to add something.... yes, 4X4 and v8 matters, but very minimally..... about a year ago i quoted a 2007 mitsubishi lancer evolution w/ the same cvgs i have now on my truck and the 6 month premium is 1300......... just after that i quoted a 2007 chevrolet corvette and the 6 month premium was ~ $850...... the reason behind this is that many more young ppl buy evo's and sti's than buy corvettes. yes a corvette is a "higher end sports car" but it is not rated as high for a younger person because not many own them.

thanks for the info, premiums just went up in cali because now an alarm is no longer classified as anit - theft, you now need GPS IE: ONSTAR or something like it. I think that is crap
i'm 25 and pay almost $1200 every six months. i do have kind of a crappy record (they're about to all drop off though) and i'm insuring my 06 tacoma, 53 plymouth, two dirt bikes, a street bike and a trailer. oh, and that includes my home owners too.
don't remember what my taco alone is.

Yea, were doing that a lot all over the place. i dont knwo if anyone ever went into depth on this topic with you but ill fill you in.....
You see USAA is the WHOLE company, bank, investments, insurance ho insurance ext..... well in the auto field there are sub goups..... active military or retired get actual USAA rates, associates or dependants get CIC (casualty insurance company) and enlisted get GIC...... at any rate, in each of those groups there are TEIRS ranging from 1A to 4d.... 1a being the best (if you ahve no tickets and accidents, and 4d being the worst) (in ca it went to liek 6d)...... anyhow, were slowly rolling out a new rating structure where we dont use those classifications anymore because theyre too general..... just because you got 1 ticket you drop a teir when it may have been your only ticket in 10 years you know what i mean?
Included in the structure redesign is a more accurate vehicle rating.... we know that most veh's have factory alarms and many have aftermarket ones. just because the discount isnt disclosed in there doesnt mean we arent taking it into consideration...... now....... as far as your rates increasing, the alarm im sure has little to do with it. we have been "at it" with CA for a while b/c the insurance commisioner there decided he didnt want us to rate ppl based off of where they live (ie. zip codes ect). to some this is a good thing but to others it is not. for you, you have pretty good rates as was... ill bet your premium went up b/c the ppl who live in more populated areas or have a higher claim rates than you had theyre premium reduced.... basically, anyone living in smaller areas with relatively low claims rates are having to make up the diff since we cannot rate based off of the statistics we were using in each territory.

I am 24, with state farm and pay 439 every 6 months for full coverage. I also have my motorcycle, boat, and wife's car through them. I also have several other discounts including my defensive driving training I get from my department.
