I am thinking about taking my truck in for the Tailgate TSB. Did they take the tailgate off and let you take the truck home? Or do they keep the whole truck while working on it? THanks in advance.

You can drop it off.
It took over a week to do mine, and there was no way I was going to let them keep my truck for a week, so I dropped off the tailgate for a week.

if you are not going to leave your truck, you may want them to do a color check on your paint code to make sure there isn't a variance. To be sure the color will be right.
Just had my tailgate replaced w. the TSB ( which I removed to install the Gator-Saver ) and the dealer's bodyshop needed the truck for the day to paint match...it was done in a day, so no big deal. they also mount the tailgate on the truck so its easier to work on it while they install the TSB and re-install the plastic cover and top edge, and re-badge it. this prevents any paint scratches due to laying on a work bench while they re-built it.
