Another Hard starting thread, hopefully with some insight
My tacoma has never had difficulty starting, until last weekend.
There hasn't been a clear pattern this whole week.
Sometimes it'll only crank, and once I reset the key and turn it a second time will it start. Sometimes it'll crank very slowly as if it didn't have enough power.
It will usually start if I give it a little gas while it is cranking, which I know I shouldn't have to do.
Most of the time it occurs in the morning, after the truck has been sitting overnight.
Here is the one thing I haven't heard anyone mention. I have a scangauge II. Most of the time under the hard start condition the scangauge starts up on the intro screen, you know where you can choose Gauge, Trip, Set Up, etc. Normally the scangauge starts on the screen that you left it with.
The terminals on the battery are tight and clean.
Should I assume the battery is dying and have it checked and if need be replaced before I get stranded?
Any other opinions?
No matter what I'm getting it checked today. I was just wondering if there were any other opinions out there.
Secondly it seems a little premature for the battery to die.
One thing I need to mention, I already have 50,000 mile on the odometer, so I am out of warantee.
Sorry for the long read.
