well...what did he say in the voicemail? maybe he was just letting you know that he was following up on it, but if he provided more info i'd like to know what he had to say.
I got a call about noon today from them. Wanted me to describe the situation the surging occurs in, to him. It's so random I couldn't say anything specific. I've had the truck about 7 months now and seem to notice the surging about 2-3 times a month. He asked about uncontrolled acceleration with downshifting. I thought he was talking about the cruise control thing but he said no, I've never experienced like that. He mentioned something about the computer learning driver patterns as an area they are looking at as a source of this phenomenon. They are opening an investigation on this issue.

When I first got my truck and read every post on everythread here (yes it's true I was a lurker) I read the many complaints about the surge while stopping or being stopped and have it feel like you got rear ended. I too ws having all of the symptoms described but it wasn't thae brakes or the A/C . It was the transmission. Sometimes it ws subtle and felt like a little nudge that would cause me to roll a inch or 2 if I wasn't on the brake. Othertimes it was strong enough that I know I would have jumped into the guy in front of me.
One day I am looking at the maintaince that Dodge did before I bought my truck. (had 35k on it) One thing that caught my eye was they serviced the tranny and filled it back up but the fluid amount was off 6 OZ's. When it somewhere around 3 quarts to fill 6 OZ's could mean a lot. I crwaled under the truck (after getting it up to 115 degrees a like the service guide says) and opened the little valve that is supposed to drip when level is at full and got nothing. I took it straight to Dodge and turned out to be 8OZ's low.
I haven't had the surge once since then and it's been 6 months. Maybe there is more than one situation here but next time you ahve to be at the dealer it may be a good idea to ask them to check.

mine, and why i filed the complaint months back, is AC related. only happens when the compressor kicks in.
maybe i'm missing something but, thats normal. of course when the a/c kicks on, the rpms will rise and if you don't have your foot on the brake hard enough, while in gear, the truck will want to take off as a result of the raised rpms. almost like power braking. i don't get what the problem is.
theres several posts on this issue.. and actually 100s of complaints. this isnt the 1st car i have owned. i know what the compressor feels like in other cars.. they actually changed the design of the way the compressor kicks in on the 07s so its less jerky on the motor.. yet my 07 still jumps forward. any other vehicle with an auto doesnt jerk like this truck does.. i owned a 6speed 06 before the 07, and yes you can tell it revs up a bit.. but being a 6 speed with the clutch in/netrual it doesnt make a difference.

i know there's several posts on the issue. i just have never gotten it. i have driven dozens and dozens of automatic tacomas 05 and up and have never noticed the issue, that's all. i just think that if you have you foot on the brake, you won't have the issue.
could just be my model is this way too... i have ABS and trac and all that crap.. the brakes are really really really and i mean really touchy.. my buddy has an access cab 05 without that crap and his brakes are day and night to how mine feel. my 6speeds brakes also werent this touchy. next time you are down this way you are welcome to drive my truck

I believe I have this same issue, which is really pissing me off considering I just bought it less than a month ago. What I have is, when I'm stopped at a light with my foot on the break, all of a sudden the truck "jumps". Not a whole lot but enough that when I don't have enough pressure on the brake pedal, it moves forward a little. This what you guys are experiencing? Toyota WILL be hearing from me on this when I get home (in NJ right now).

I get that too. In fact, it happened again today. I'd forgotten about it; only happens every so often. I hadn't really noticed it for the last couple of months.
