Welding Estimates

Got some estimates on getting some Sliders welded on. Ranged from 4 hours at $87per hour for $350 to 1 hour at $85 per hour for total of $85 hmmm....i don't know which one to choose.

Anyway, does anyone have any experience in this area? like how long did it take your shop to weld on the Demello weld on sliders? or better yet, if your a certified welder or work in a shop, how long would you estimate the job at?

I'm thinking that definitely it shoudn't take 4 hours (and this quote was from a 4x4 shop called High Country 4x4) and that an hour may be a bit low?

anyway if anyone is curious the shop I got the $85 quote from is called ORI (offroad innovations)

That sounds kinda high. There's a guy down the street from me that's a retired welder. He welds for about $20 an hour cash.

It should save you some money if you go ahead and prep the surfaces to be welded. Grind off the paint and stuff.

Hi Country is a pretty well known shop that has a fairly large client-base, especially for Jeepers. They probably don't really "want" the work, but are throwing something out there in case you bite.

Shouldn't take more than an hour. If the sliders are complete ready to install it's a very easy job. A little cleaning on both parts (frame & sliders) to insure a clean weld and then melt some wire. Be sure to disconnect your negative battery wire to be safe.
