Talking Do you like to surf fish and have an unused bed divider sitting around???

I got the Toyota OEM bed divider when I got the truck. After getting the Undercover, it would no longer fit (cover wouldn't close all the way). Anyway, I took the divider, bolted on some 2" pvc tubes and this is what I ended up with... it's a very solid mount.

12 surf rod holders (the grey tubes) and 1 flag pole sleeve (the center white tube). I'm ready for the Outer Banks and the Red Drum!!! Thirteen more days 'til I'm standing in the surf!!!

I like having them in the bed like this. It keeps the reels up away from the road/ sand surface (like on a front bumper or hitch type mount) and all the grime, bugs and/ or sand blasting they would otherwise endure.

Looks good. I was thinking about doing something similar, but utilizing the board "cut-outs" to set up some rod holders. I never thought about using a bed divider for that....but now you have me thinking about going that route. You may want to add some tabs to either end of the pvc pipes so you can run a bungee cord over the reals- it will help keep them from moving around a bit when you are at higher speeds.

I was at the Outer Banks all of last week....the water looked good (there was a NNE wind most of the week kept it really clear) but the fish weren't very cooperative (as far as surf fishing goes) most of the week. I caught a decent amount of blues, a few trout, some lizard fish, spot, croakers, pigfish, and a pretty good sized needle fish (about 4 feet long..and talk about teeth!!). I mostly fish with lures, so if your a bait fisherman you should have better luck as long as no large storms move through. The spanish mackerels, cobia, and red drum eluded me last week .....although they did have a grander (1078 lbs) blue marlin caught out of Oregon Inlet fishing center and gulf stream offshore action is hot right now!

Tight lines!

I thought about that, but I'll probably just hook the bungees somewhere on the bed divider... there's plenty of nooks and crannies on it to hook stuff to. Also to help with them moving around, I put those notches in the tops of the pipes. I've never tried that before, so we'll see how it works.

Yeah, we fish live and cut bait for the most part on bottom and fish finder rigs. I'm taking a 7' spinner (using lurers) to work the back side of the island this year. There's not a whole lot that's more relaxing than being on an island, driving down the beach, finding that perfect hole and then hauling in a whopper while sitting on the tailgate of your truck... absolute heaven!

Yeah... Line-X. It's been on there since the end of '05 and has held up beautifully (almost 2 years now). I hose it down at the local car wash from time to time and it still looks like new. Sure as shit, someone will now post and tell you it'll never stick long term due to the material our beds are made from...

Go do an advanced search for "line-x" and my user name "nomad" and you'll see a lot of peoples' opinions on it. Take a lot of it with a grain of salt. Bottom line... Line-X works GREAT on our composite beds. If anyone says differently, it's
