These lists can be a little disconcerting, if you know anything about how gasoline is distributed. The basic stock is exactly, precisely the SAME at any pipeline terminal for your region. The gas QT loads up may have been put in the pipe by Texaco.

The only difference at the pump is additives (which that site is touting), which can be quite variable. A few years back C&D said Chevron techroline was the best. Beyond octane rating, I don't much trust any of 'em, notably a distributor selling the stuff.

No offense Pb, you are the taco mod god.

Yeah, that's what the website says. Certain companies add additive packages and detergents to their gas that prevent engine deposits. Reducing engine deposits is the main goal of this Top Tier class of Gasolines.

If you have the choice, you might as well buy your gas from a retailer that's on that list.

Same here. Only 93 octane around these parts.

(Crap, I'm just asking to get flamed if I even hint the ECU can tell the difference)

I just like wasting money.

I go with 89, 91 or 93. Just depends what mood I'm in. I can't really tell a difference in performance between those 3. Sometimes I think the brand (additives) of gas might be more important than the octane. JMO.

From what I understand, At the pump all the octanes should have the same detergents and stuff. The only thing that changes between octanes is the amount of heptane in the gas.

The octane rating is a measure of the autoignition resistance of gasoline (petrol) and other fuels used in spark-ignition internal combustion engines. It is a measure of anti-detonation of a gasoline or fuel.
Octane number is the number which gives the percentage, by volume, of iso-octane in a mixture of iso-octane and normal heptane, that would have the same anti-knocking capacity as the fuel which is under consideration. For example, gasoline with the same knocking characteristics as a mixture of 90% iso-octane and 10% heptane would have an octane rating of 90.

Yessir, and the only thing keeping them honest are state auditors. And I just KNOW the State of Texas will protect us consumers from oil companies.

I believe Shell only puts their detergents in 93 octane.

I always use 89 from Chevron. I am consistenty averaging 19+mpg with my 32" BFG muds.

I seem to be able to pull better gas mileage in the truck and the lexus by using chevron fuel. I have been a loyal chevron follower for years here in Cali. Add to the milage bonus they are very agressive with keeping all stations clean and up to date with the Corp. Image. Sonetni g that attracts me to them as well.

I used to only buy exxon/mobil gas until all the stations near me started going downhill.
Then moved on to costco gas which i had read was reall cruddy... and when they raised prices to where it was only a few cents cheaper than others, i moved to shell.

so far i can tell a slight difference with shell (very slight but i can tell, especially on our mustang)

I worked with a guy who used to be work at a west texas oil refinary , he swore up and down to me that the gas in the southwest is ALL the same no matter what.
