Hey everyone! this is first time post for my self.
i was hoping to get some advise on finding a tuffer clear coat if possible.
i have some scratches, but there just in the clear coat any suggestions?
has anyone else had a problem with scratches coming from things you wouldn't normally expect.
Toyota clear coat sucks, especially on the front bumper, mine had been peeling in the corners since I bought it! I hope to drive it until just before the warranty is up and get it repainted, rocks and bugs are hell on it anyway. I showed it to the dealer so that he is aware of it.

The new paints are more environmentally friendly. But they're also softer. Stupid tree huggers.
You can help it look better by adopting a good washing technique, use good microfiber towels, and wax. When you build up a lot of swirls and scratches just polish it. Check the detailing forum. http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/f101
try using a good marine wax, its a bit tougher than normal wax. I used marine wax on my old ranger (at my dads suggestion[a prof detailer])that I took wheeling all the time and It worked great, never had any scratches on that baby!

Putting on a new clear coat, basically entails repainting your entire truck. You could be looking in the multiple thousands to have it done right.
If it bothers you polish it out, but know that everytime you polish your paint you are removing some of that clear coat. It can only be done so many times before you burn through.
You could put 3M mylar on all the leading edges of your truck to help with rockchips, other then you just learn to live with it.
I personally like the pinstripes down both sides of my truck, give it character.

About 15 years of buffing is what it took me to finally get to the bottom of the paint on my ranger :P
