Badlands Trip

So ill put stuff here in an effort not to fill up the show your truck thread...

Went out to the Badlands offroad park with BillBrasky and a few others from INTTORA

http://badlandsoffroad.com/

It was a blast. Second time out with my truck and it served me well. It rained like a bitch around lunch and in the afternoon which made for a wild ride in Brasky's truck after I parked mine for the harder trails.

Brinner from TTORA, this guy doesn't hold back much...

stock 4runner and me

Pics

It was a great day. Now I'm itching to get my lift on so I can stop dragging my belly and ass on thigs

I sure had a lot of fun. There were some tense moments, but it all turned out ok. We were probably in some spots we didn't need to be in considering the weather. There were some pretty tight spots. You gotta love it when the guy sitting next to you says, "Ok, this next turn is gonna make your butt pucker...and thats when it's dry." But all is well. I'm not sure how, but I don't have any damage. And I think all Amp had was some scuff marks on his bed. I'd like to go back...on a clear day.

Ya I'll definitley be going back when another run is organized. I'd love to spend more time in that quarry. That was my first time playing on the rocks, and I gota say it's alot more fun than sloppy mud.

I haven't been back to the parking garage yet today, but it seems like I got away with just a few new marks in the clear coat

Looks like Brinner's truck is screamin' for a set of sliders and a front locker. It didn't look like his rear locker was working in one of the vids. I think I have a way to use the traction control for a quasi-LS using the "a-trac hack" for the FJ's, but I haven't got around to trying it yet. My truck goes everywhere I point it so it hasn't been needed in this european terrain.

Yeah, he's gonna build his own I think and is just short on time. He does have a nice rear bumper and skid plates that he made.

We were talking about the front locker thing yesterday. They just scare me with IFS. Some sort of a-trac just for the front would be cool, though. Lock the rear and have the help of a-trac up front. Easier on the cv's and axles that way.

Yeah plus you can't steer for shit. If you look at the bundle of wires at the master cylinder there is a blue one with a yellow stripe, and the FJ guys just hook that up to a 12V hot wire and traction control works in 4LO, even with the rear end locked, but the throttle cut out shit doesn't happen like in 2HI. I'm just scratching my head how to make it work with my other mod that turns off traction control. I like no abs and open diff on the street , or just when playing around on snow or whatever. The way that mod works you Ground the same wire, just up at the 4WD ECU. What I'm trying to figure out is how to apply juice to the ABS motor and NOT to the 4WD computer. When the locker is locked the actuator in the rear axle is grounded(through the same wire), so you can't apply voltage to it or bzzzt it's shorted. Hmm I guess a three way switch. I'll try it tomorrow. My truck is always the guinee pig for this stuff-
Oh yeah I'm diggin' his rear bumper too. I've got an itch to bob mine 13" and get a shortbox supertop for it. I still have to sneak through customs next year though so I better wait.

Time to trade the Tundra

But, with buying a Tundra, boat, 135i, etc, shouldn't you have $5-10k or so to get an older tacoma for a play truck? I wish I had a lady w/second income for all those toys

Ha, well unfortanutely it's going to be either the boat or the 135i. The wife didn't want a boat anymore, so I was looking at a Bimmer, but that all changed. She thinks its stupid for us to have 3 cars, no matter the make of the extra car....I gotta figure out a gameplan here

Good shots!

I found the skid plate in the bed of the truck to be quite funny.

I see all of you had flags on. Is badlands a "pay to play" park?
