Front Parking Light Mod

Since my first Toyota truck in the late '80s, I've always wanted to have BOTH the turn signal light and the side/front parking light illuminated simultaneously. Being lazy, I never bothered to actually wire it up.

This mod is for the lazy modder

The front turn signal is actually set up for the "running light" mod -- the bulb has 2 filaments, and the socket has 3 pins (ground, blinker, and running light). All I did was run one wire from the turn signal pin to the side marker light. So easy!!

My truck does NOT have DRLs; and I don't know the possible negative interactions (if any) that may arise because of them.

Without the headlight on ...

With the headlight on ...

BTW: the intensity of the turn signal is equal to that of the side marker light .. even though it appears brighter in the pic.

Sorry the front DTRL's are the Blinkers!
The filament that you hooked up is the low light. The actual DTRL uses the same filament that the blinker uses. That other filament is NEVER used.

The way you did your has been done by many member here. Do a search and you'll find tons of info on that.

But It works. But just not as bright.

No, each filament has its own energy source. BOTH filaments are used; one for the turn signal; one for the running light. This is why I posted that the trucks with DRLs may not be the same.

This is how it comes from the factory:

That 3rd wire is never used. And the Factory DTRL's are much brighter.
