I did do some searching, I just want more opinions and specific pictures.
So I went to my buddies car stereo shop the other day looking for an ipod adaptor to integrate through my stock radio. He gave me a couple options.
Option 1. Buy an AUX adapter, but I'd either have to cut a hole in the pocket in the lower right by your steering wheel, or put the ipod through the glove box. (I would have to control the ipod)
Option 2. Buy the Harmen Kardon adapter, but I would still have to cut a hole in the dash for the screen to get mounted, or mount it very far up on the dash in the corner and just run the wire up like that.
Option 3. Buy a screen and ipod cable and run the cable to the glove box (the radio would control the ipod)
Now I have mixed feelings about this. Because I definetely will not cut a hole in my truck, but I want the screen, but I don't wanna spend all that money on just a screen when I have a perfectly good CD player. I'm leaning to putting the harmen kardon in and mounting their little screen up where the dash meets with the a-pillars.
Now does anyone have the harmen kardon, and could I see pics on it?

I was looking at doing the Harmon-Kardon option as the kit is on sale at Best Buy for cheap. Would be curious as to what others are doing.
i just bought a usa spec pa11 for 83 used on ebay. i think they go for 120 new. it plugs into the back of the stock radio and charges ur ipod. they have the pa12 now which lets u control ur ipod from the radio to a certain extent, but i usualy control it from the ipod itself anyway, so the pa11 is perfect for me.

I have the Harmon Kardon Drive + Play first generation. It works really well. I mounted the IPOD behind my glove box so it is hidden. I simply mounted the screen to the black "blank" panel on my dash below the air vent. If I ever choose to remove the IPOD i can simply buy a new blank. Here are a couple of pics.
That looks really cool, sadly my vehicle has controls 4x4, ebrake, airbag shutoff on most of those "blank panels" mentioned.
After a lot of consideration, I'm leaning towards an Alpine headunit with the kce-422i adapter. I would go with a screen, but I'm no fan (had one in my civic), plus I would like a place to mount a cb, which I really can't seem to find a good place for on the new gen Tacomas.
Keep in mind, there is the Toyota Ipod Integration kit coming out this fall (dunno exactly when), and while that seems to be the same as the USA Spec PA12TOY, it would be under warranty and may be more functional, without having to "cut" anything.

If you are not planning on putting a kid in the front seat, just turn the passenger airbag on and leave it on, then pop the switch apart and stuff it back in the dash and use the "keyhole" for the screen wires. inside the center console is a good place for your cb, just run the mic cable out through the bottom of it and come up between the drivers seat and console.
I have a 2006 Tacoma and I purchased the USA Spec Ipod interface from Crutchfield and had Best Buy install it. It connects with the factory stereo, and will allow you to move between songs (using your steering wheel toggles) once an artist is selected on the Ipod. Downside...if you want to change artists or CD's, you have to do it from the Ipod. I had Best Buy run the cable up into my center console, so it's stowed away nicely. I haven't had any problems.
Okay so Fugutji makes ALL the radios for Toyota and they also make eclipse so if you buy an eclipse in-dash you don't cut anything all you do is change out the old radio place a new kit in and the OEM harness plugs right into the radio and if you have steering wheel controls guess what?? it keeps them and it everything stays under warranty. This way you can play your i-pod on your radio and even watch the movies on it if you get the screen which i did. Over all going aftermarket stereo would be great either alpine or eclipse but, if you do change out your factory speakers because you'll end up blowing them there range is 5W and the decks will put out 22Watts. Also the harmon-karmon had a major recall on their product they go out in less than 3-6 months so be carefull harmon-karmon offers no warranty and the place you buy it from will offer warranty for 30 days. The harmon-karmon is actually going for $40 dollars right now brand new. so my advice go after-market
