My 2008 Taco

Brought home my '08 DC today. Figured ya'll don't need to see pics of a stock truck, plus it dark outside so I couldn't take a pic if I wanted to.

I don't think I fully realized until I drove this one home how loud my '05 truck was w/ Flowmaster+M/T's or how terrible the ride was w/ lift+M/T's. And I the 6 speed! No more jaw-jarring auto downshifts on the highway!

Don't want to go through all the right backspacing and trimming problems all over again. If you've got suggestions on what you think the best overall setup would be to achieve a 'slightly lifted' look feel free to share. Thanks!

Looking at your sig, it looks like you've "been there done that" w/ regards to modifying these rigs.

I chose to just swap the tires to 265/75/16s and call it good. Factory ride with an extra .5" of true lift over the 265/70/16s. They fill the wheel wells nicely.

Gotta ask... Why did you trade your 05? Other than switching to a manual (nice), did you choose anything else different from your last ride?

I just went from an 06 DC auto prerunner to an 08 DC 4x4 6sp. I upgraded to 4x4, leather and 6sp. 4x4 for time at the deer lease, 6sp because I'd rather have that than auto (not missing the downshifts either) and leather because, leather is so much nicer. Besides, it is so much easier to take care of and clean.

Just because you have one doesn't mean you have to act like one!

Im kind of in the same situation too, had a 00 prerunner lifted and hated the ride quality on it. i love the look of a lifted truck but damn the ride sucks. that's why on this one i wasn't going to lift anything on it but now im thinking of gettings some 5100s to level the front end and be done with it.

Apologies for the silly question, but what are Bilstein 5100s? And do the 265/75/16s ever cause any bottoming out or rubbing on wheel wells / fenders?

I'd kind of like to keep the factory look on mine, but get another half inch or an inch of height.

Thanks.

^^^ they are shocks you put on the front that have notches in them that youcan ajust the height with, up to 2.5" i believe.

mhillsing23, i take it that's what you are running?

Yes, I have Bilstein 5100s all the way around. I have the front set to level the rake out of the truck.

Giff: No rubbing or bottoming out with the 265/75/16s. In fact, quite a few guys on here have them with no rubbing at the stock ride height.
