To Scoop or Not To Scoop

So I was exiting the highway in Houston when a car all of a sudden burns out from a few cars behind and exits on the shoulder/emergency lane where all of the gravel and dirt is. Rocks were being projectiled like little missiles at my truck. Now my hood is all dented up and my fender looks so crinkled you would think it was in an accident.
Needless to say I caught up to the bastard but I couldn't take out my rage because I realized I was in my military uniform and that would not look good. So I just wrote his plate number down and called the cops. Got a police report but probably did no good.
My deductible is $500 and the body shop said it was going to cost about $500 to repair so since I am going to have to pay for this either way I was just wondering what everyone's opinion on the aftermarket scooped hood is.
I really like them but don't know if it will be worth all of the effort, especially if it doesn't fit right or is not up to par with the OEM hood.

I've already read through the posts that came up in the search. I am just looking for opinions and any horror stories of aftermarket hoods-if any.

it's not that we don't care, but from what i've read over the past year or so, there's only been one guy that put an aftermarket hood on and he had no troubles. simmer down a little bit.

No I don't think it's "Nobody cares" I just think that there is very limited experience with these hoods. Only 1 person I have read that ever did this.
It appears that it turned out really well for him.

Good Luck!
