Lightbulb Pics* Installed a decent Duralast 1000CA battery in OEM location (Big battery)

This is just a small writeup. I was going to do a dual battery install but my budget is pretty tight this year.

I replaced that no name POS OEM battery that was in there. Its pretty god damn big compared to replacement batteries though

I went with the biggest battery Autozone had a 49-DL. Its 850CCA and 1000CA and 155minnute reserve capacity at what wattage/amp draw im not sure (chime in if you know) I made my own tray although it was unnecessary. I used a street sign from work for material. Its dense aluminium. I also had to shorten the OEM bolt down rods. I used a cutoff wheel and some heat to rebend the ends to hook in the OEM locations.

I plan to add a air intake later to make room on the other side for a second battery. Here are some pics.

drain tube entended

That battery belongs in a Mercedes-Benz. Just keep your eye on the electrolyte in the battery. This paticular battery is prone to being acid starved due to it's low profile and high plate count. Just a word of caution.

Unless Johnson Controls has changed the top of that battery, you should be able to lift the caps under the handle to see the plates and electrolyte inside of the battery. I would check it at the same time that you check or change the oil.
