I'll revive this thread with my specs from today's alignment.
It was quite an ordeal to get it done. I put a 2" Toyotec spacer lift on the front and brought it to the dealer today for an alignment.
They called me in and told me that they couldn't get it in spec. I asked about the lift and the service writter said that it shouldn't matter. Ok, then align it. Sorry, we had the best guy and the supervisor try and it just won't align. Ok, show me the alignment sheet.
The ink ran out on the printer and you couldn't read any of the info. Ok, I'll be outside while you go and figure this out.
They call me in later and show me a second printout of the actual specs. I'm trying to compare them to my numbers and nothing is really making sense. Some numbers are red but still in spec and some are green and out of spec. The service writter tries to explain it that something must be bent. He calls in the tech and the supervisor and the tech explains that nothing they did would move the numbers, it just won't align.
Ok, why would something being bent not cause the numbers to move? I told them it sounded like a warranty issue if the adjustments had no effect on the numbers. They agreed and told me the frame was probably bent and that I'd have to make an appointment with the body shop to get on the frame machine.
I then asked the tech about the numbers that seemed to be in spec but were red and vice versa. He looked at the spec sheet and said, you can't use those numbers they're for a pre-runner.
I looked at the service writter and said, "Well I think I may know what the problem is". They all got pretty sheepish looks on their faces when they realized the truck was a pre-runner but they had tried to align it like it was a regular access cab.
So after 3 hours and three tries I got the truck aligned.
What are they doing to "average" people who don't insist on them making it right. I can only imagine how that truck would have driven after they completely screwed everything up.
They offered me nothing and I paid the full price for the alignment, the service writter did apologize and seemed to really feel bad.
They just stuck to their guns that nothing made sense, it just won't align. That seemed to be an acceptable answer to them.
I'm not sure if the SAI or included angle being out on the left means anything or not. They told me it didn't and the explanation they gave seemed to make sense. What do you guys think?
Here's pic of the spec sheet.
Just realized that I posted this in the wrong forum. Can the mods move it to the 2005+ Tacoma forum?? Sorry.
