Excuse my ignorance but...(lift question)

Yeah I did a search but wanted to confirm from others.

If I wanted to put on the 3" toytec lift.....how exactly do I go about doint that? Meaning...I order the lift kit from the website, get it delivered and then take it to a local shop? Body shop? Mechanic?

What is the "average" price for having one put on?

yeah you just order it and when it shows up at your house you then get a place to have it installed any place that can work on suspension should be able to install it for you. Most people on here have installed the Toytec kit themselves, and recomend doing it yourself if you have and mechanical inclination.

LOL...well I have pretty much ZERO mechanical inclination.....I would more than likely mess that process up. Plus lack of tools.

Varies. I paid a local tire shop $175 but I think some have paid a lot more. You should check out the bilstein 5100s. They give up to 2.5" lift up front and fit 32" tire w/ no rubbing or mods. I did the three inch toytec lift on my '05 and don't think I'm gonna do that again w my new one. We are getting ready to do a group buy on them. JMO.

The bilstein 5100's might be an easier option to get a bit of height? I'll look into that for sure then.

So you only need the bilstein's in the front? I'm confused on that.

You can fit a 265/75/16 (31.6") tires on your stock truck w/o any rubbing or mods. Unlike the lift, the shocks will improve the ride quality and are adjustable. Everyone that has them seems to like them.

the 5100's give lift in the front because they have an adjustable perch that you can leave at stock level or the top perch gives 2.5 of lift, they do not give any lift in the rear though and the rears are not extended length, so you could just buy an add a leaf or a block for lift in the rear

That's what I did. Called around to the dealer, 2 4WD shops, and a tire shop. Labor ranged from $237 to $1220.

Funny thing is, the tire shop was not only the cheapest, but they are the ones who do the alignment and road-force balancing for my dealer.

They charged $177 to do the 884s, top plate spacer, and diff drop in the front; 1/5" block and axle shims in the rear.

$59.95 for the thrust alignment.

There is no such thing as average... you can get killed if the first place you go to wants to rape you and you don't shop around. Just look at the price spread in one small town.
