Aux Light Switch Tip (PreRunners)

When installing a factory override switch for my driving lights, I found a connector behind the dash blank. Prolly for some 4x4 electric veeblefetzer. You can use two of the slots in the connector to illuminate the switch with the dash dimmer.

One of the slots is constant 12V+, the other varies with the dimmer. DO NOT just run the light from the variable voltage source - The light will actually work backwards. Run the light between the variable voltage and the constant source, works great and it's right there when wiring the switch.

I used little 0.12" male blades for the connection, but you can trim bigger ones to fit. Or just cut the connector and splice the wires.

(And if your tail fuse blows during the install, you shorted those two connections)

That plug is for the Traction Control option. I think all Tacomas have it. It doesn't do anything.

It powers my switch illumination

Pb I just did the driving lights, upgraded headlamps (PIAA Xtremes), hard-wired a detector off the OH console and installed a flashlight charger. THANK YOU for all the wiring-related posts. You make this place great.
