Just curious, how long did it take the dealer to find your Tacoma? Im planning on buying an '08 Tacoma next year and would like it to be here some time in April, so Im kinda curious as to when I should go to the dealer and make the deal.
Im just look at getting a regular cab 4x2 5-speed and the only option I want is a/c (Option Package B). Im betting thats a truck that a dealer in NE Wisconsin will have to locate.
My plan is to go to the dealer in early March with $500 in hand and tell them what I want and tell them to locate me one. Youd think that they would be able to find one and have it ready for me to take delivery of some time in April.
So, Im just curious, did it take a couple weeks, a month or more?

Its been quite a numer of years since I looked into buying a new Toyota. Back then (in the late '90s) they used to take your order and then try to locate the vehicle you wanted and if they couldnt find one they would then call Toyota and have them build the vehicle you want, is that still how its done or do they just order the vehicle and get a build date like how Ford and GM do it?

I ordered mine in may, they didn't have any DC manual trans in black in Ontario so they're giving me an '08 for the same deal. Won't arrive till Oct 9th though
A couple months, but I had the first one in Europe (or so the customs guy said), and one of the first ones period. I had been buggin the 'yota dealer here for about 6 months total though. I made 2 payments before I even had the keys.

I knew what I wanted and the dealer I wanted to buy it from (I had already bought a truck from them in the past). I called the dealer up and told them what I was looking for...they looked through their build/order sheet and said they had a truck scheduled be built in three weeks that would be at their lot in about 4 weeks that was exactly what I wanted. I kept an eye on their inventory (they are really good at keep their website up-to-date with their inventory) and when it came in I went down and got the price I wanted on it. It was nice getting a truck that was fresh of the assembly line and no one else had driven it

go to the toyota usa site..... and click on build your own..... when you select the options and type you want..... it will display how many are available in your region, as you want it....
the more that are out there.... the less you'll have to wait obviously.
i put money down and inked the deal on paper.... waited 6weeks, they couldn't find what i wanted and threw-in the toyo guard and tow pkg, at no additional charge to me...... dealers hate to return money, and loose a sale. but, without a "deal" being inked.... it's all just talk. but, money talks louder.............
