4.25 or 4.5 bs?

I would like to run BFG AT 285/75/16's on my 07 DC 4x4. I have the toytec kit, 885, Alcan AAL, and diff drop. I want the black steelies from Wheelers (by Pro Comp). The 4WP store has the same wheels but they have 4.25 bs vs Wheelers 4.5 bs. 4WP told me I would have to get a 285/70/17 because rubbing issues on the UCA. I don't want to move up to a 17 because of the increase in price.

Will the TC UCA cure any rubing?
Are the 4WP guys trying to get more money out of me with the 285/70/17 or can I run my 285/75/16?
Does anyone know a good place in OC to get this work done on my truck?
I offer a Lund Grill Screen if anyone can assist me in the install or something, I donno. HELP.

I think he may have had it confused with the brake caliper.

I'm not sure that changing your tires from 285/75/16s to 285/70/17s will solve UCA rubbing issues, if any. I doubt you'll have a UCA rubbing problem anyway because even the 4.5" backspacing should give you plenty of clearance between the tires and UCAs. In fact, I'd prefer the 4.5" backspacing of the wheeler's because they'll put less stress on your wheel bearings than the 4.25" backspacing.

Like AN noted, the switch to the 17" size is usually to solve the problem of the rim hitting the brake caliper. However, there are several TN members running the 16" Wheeler's steelies without any problems.

Long story short, you should be fine with 285/75/16s on the 16" Wheeler's steelies.

WOW Thank You!

Anyone have ideas where in SoCal to go for the purchase of tires, install and alignment?
