Fuel Tank Capacity???

Does anyone know how many gallons of gas the 2005 Tacoma V-6 holds? I know it varies from actual vehicle to vehicle but usually not more than 1/4 to a 1/4 gallon either way. My original window sticker states 21 galllons. Is this correct???? I'm thinking mine is no more than 18.8 to 19.0. I have never put more than 18.6 gallons, and felt like I was very lucky not to run out of gas. Was I totally off and could have gotten another 25 miles of so?

Yes and yes. The low fuel light comes on way too early - that's usually what throws people off

the low fuel light does not come on when you are almost completely out of gas. It serves as a reminder. RTFM! 21 gallons for every trim

Damn, how I hate liars.

How's everything in Jacksonville? I use to live on North Fletcher in Fernandina Beach some years ago.

The OP knew the fuel tank was SUPPOSED to hold 21gal. He was asking about your personal experience or knowledge because he is having doubts. Nothing wrong with asking! If you don't like the question, it's very easy to skip. Or is it?

BTW, I read the manual, and there was no personal owner experience in it. I think someone should start a Web forum so owners can discuss it.

Will some brave member of this forum run their truck until the engine stops, and then tell us how much you put in on the fillup?

Better yet, go test drive a new Tacoma and see how far you can go after the light comes on.

/kudos to Kosmo Kramer.

Sometimes humor doesn't come across just right. I don't really think that anyone meant any harm ... just a Friday morning chat.

About your last comment (above). What do you mean by this .... "there was no personal ownership experience" ?

What am I missing?

I remember reading somewhere where some knucklehead did just that because he didn't believe the light and gage.

ps ... I'd pay to see Kramer enter/exit a Tacoma
