Intermittent wiper switch for 2009 Tacoma

I currently have 2-speed wipers in my 09 reg. cab Tacoma. I would like to upgrade to intermittent wipers. I was told the following:

part #84652-04141 fits 2005-2008

part #84652-02610 fits 2009

Many report the interval setting on the stalk for the 09 switch is backwards. Does any one know how to resolve this or if part #84652-04141 which fits 2005-2008 will also work on the 2009 and if this might resolve the backwards issue.

When they say it is "backwards", what exactly do they mean? Will it still work? I don't care if the writing on the stalk is backwards ( slower mark is actually faster speed and faster mark is actually slower speed ) as long as I can adjust the wiper speed. I am so sick of the two speed wipers that the stalk could be bright orange and I would still install it!

For description of "backwards"--see the following link:

2009 Intermittent Wipers Backwards?

I suppose that when the interval selector is in the middle, the fact that it is backwards is not apparent. Supposedly, the switch operates correctly, it is just the markings on the stalk do not agree with the length of interval. Evidently, for pre-2009 Tacomas, this was not an issue. Today, I checked the intermittent wiper stalk on my 2005 Toyota Camry and it was fine with respect to markings and operation.

F.W.I.W., I was told today by Toyota Customer Service that if I replace the 2-speed wipers with intermittent wipers that I will void the warranty. I'm sure most are aware of this. My local dealer (service) said the same thing. Now I have to decide whether to proceed. How do others feel about the issue of making a particular mod with respect to the impact it might have on the warranty?

#1 it will only void warranty to related parts- Google magnason moss act

#2 if something does go wrong after you do it and you need warranty work i doubt a tech is going to check to see if you modified the windshield wiper controls

#3 if you are that paranoid then when you go to get warranty work done then re install the old one

Found out today that part #84652-04141 which fits 2005-2008 Tacoma will NOT fit the 2009. Info from Conicelli Toyota, Springfield, PA--acc. to Parts Dept. who spoke to a Tech, the connectors are completely different between the 2009 and previous years so ONLY the part #84652-02610 will work with 2009.

Tech and Parts guy said it would work. I ordered it. See following link where at least two others have ordered the same part:

Last edited by atea; 01-12-2009 at 06:08 AM. Reason: Cancelled part order on 1-10-09. Found out that 05-08 wiper stalk may fit which conflicts with info from dealer.

Update on this issue: see following link:

http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd...09-tacoma.html

Found out that intermittent wiper stalk that fits 05-08 (part #84652-04141) Tacoma also fits an 09 Tacoma--see above link. This conflicts with info obtained from Toyota dealer indicated in above quote. I decided to cancel my order the following day when I leaned of this. I installed the -04141 part on my 09 Regular cab and it works fine and NOT backwards as has been previously reported for the wiper stalk for the 09 (part#84652-02610).
