I just had mine fixed a couple weeks ago under the recall. I told the service advisor to complete the two recalls (pedal chop/reflash and the spiral cable recall), but no more. I had already confirmed the airbag code was for the driver's airbag squib circuit, so was pretty confident the spiral cable was to blame, but in case it wasn't, I intended to diagnose and repair myself rather than being stuck with a huge diagnostic or repair bill. Sure enought, it was the spiral cable, which saved me the bother. I'm happy I finally caved and got the other recall done too, the engine runs smoother and starts easier after the software reflash, and the cut pedal isn't a big deal.
