2008 air bag light

Hey all,,,,

I have a 2008 Tacoma TRD last week the air bag light came on????? Anyone else having this problem???? It has 98000 miles on it so the book says the warranty is over for air bags and the such....... I think I will have to take it in and see what the code is anyhow don't really care if they work or not as long as they don't work too good (sooner than need to be)... Is there a way to read the codes without taking it in???

There is a clock spring recall....If you haven't had that done I bet that may be your problem.

Clock spring???? I never seen a recall like that........ they just keep telling me I need my floor mat recall taken care of........

Spiral Cable/clock spring....I have heard it called both.

I just had mine fixed a couple weeks ago under the recall. I told the service advisor to complete the two recalls (pedal chop/reflash and the spiral cable recall), but no more. I had already confirmed the airbag code was for the driver's airbag squib circuit, so was pretty confident the spiral cable was to blame, but in case it wasn't, I intended to diagnose and repair myself rather than being stuck with a huge diagnostic or repair bill. Sure enought, it was the spiral cable, which saved me the bother. I'm happy I finally caved and got the other recall done too, the engine runs smoother and starts easier after the software reflash, and the cut pedal isn't a big deal.
