Speed Readout Problem

I have about 1400 miles on my 2 week old 2005 Prius. Today when I started out, and just after fueling, my speed readout started reading speeds at least +30 mph faster than my actual speed. I took the car home, let it sit for about 20 minutes and then took a ride around the neighborhood and the problem continued. So what is about 40 reads out about 80. The speeds don't just jump aropund, rather they climb quickly and reduce quickly and go to zero when I stop.
Does anyone know if this is an issue with the Prius and if it's been discussed.
Thanks, Dan Weitzman

Happened to me a few days ago

Make sure you've got the selector on miles per hour instead of kilometers per hour. I was confused for a few minutes before I realized that was the problem.
