Plug in conversion

I read in a couple of magazines that people have been able to change there prius so that it is a plug in vehicle as well as a hybrid. Does anyone know if this is possible to do. How much would it cost to do this conversion.

why plug it in? you can't run very far at all on the battery alone, and the hybrid system is so efficient in chargeing the battery.

they're not plugging it into the stock battery. There are additional batteries that'll be installed during the conversion.

Have a look at:
http://www.calcars.org/priusplus.html
What they have done is to add additional battery power to increase the range of the vehicle using only the battery and add the ability to charge those batteries from a mains power supply. A bit expensive at $10-$12,000.
