Forward Visibility

I am about to take delivery of my 06 Prius. I noticed that sitting in the driver's seat that I could not see the front of the bonnet. While driving this would not be a problem but when trying to parallel park in a smallish space between two vehicles it helps if one can drive forward as far as possible without hitting the vehicle in front.
Has anyone tried to solve this blind spot problem by installing a forward looking camera or using a mirror attached to the roof just inside the top of the windscreen to maximise forward vision? If so, what did you do and how successful was your effort?

Actually, if you want a really cheap, low tech solution, just mount an antenna or similar long piece of material and screw onto the licence plate holder (or any other creative mounting methods).

scroll down to about midpage. The one on the left is automatic, the one of the right is manual. But the idea is there, use something similar and mount it on your front plate holder.

Thanks, Tideland. I see further up the page they show a distance warning device for each corner of the car. I installed one of these on a car several years ago. It had two sensors. I might have a look at installing something like that pointing forward.

Oh.. clearance sensors? Sure, you could do that too.
