Am I doing something wrong, or is it impossible to get the LED headlights (not to mention the 17" tires) on the Canadian Prius if you order the technology package?? You can on the US site, so what gives??
You cannot get LED Lights or 17" wheels with the Moonroof w/ Solar Panels, weight issues i guess and probably other obstacles.
Why can you then on the US site?
They pulled the same stunt with the Rav4 about a year and a half ago, they forced buyers into choosing between the Smart Key and the Nav system -- you couldn't get both (but again they could on the US site -- go figure).

Because in the US, you can't get the moonroof with solar panels with the technology package.

I find that both interesting - and disturbing - all at the same time. . . and it begs to ask "why"? It cannot be because of the weight (as earlier reports indicate) since it would weigh the same - with the same options - in Canada. So, if you can get the Technology Package AND the Solar Roof panels in Canada, it should also be available in the US. I just don't want to have to choose!

So - is there any "logical" reason - why?
What? You can't combine the solar panel sunroof with the Nav system in the States?? And I thought we had it bad with the LED headlights...What is it with these strange option compromises? Seems like they're determined to force buyers into choosing between various desirable options...

Mike_ Please re-read my post. I didn't say that you couldn't get the NAV system with the Solar Roof (it's included in the package) -- only that you cannot get the "Technology" package (which also includes the NAV) WITH the Solar Roof. It's one or the other - NOT both.

Marketing. They probably figured you want the top-of-the-line Prius to look sharp so the 17" alloys were offered along with LEDs (people think HIDs and big alloys for the top model or on expensive cars, right?). Up here, sure we get the SR with the AT package but it looks no different from the base model.

My dad is looking at the 2010 Prius, and the tech package, it DOES have LED headlights, and solar roof, and all that stuff...we're in Ontario....

The Australian I-Tech model has the Nav, LED Lights and a Moonroof w/ Solar Panels. A friend wanted 17" wheels and he had to buy those separately and fit them himself.

Sure thing. Cause I have a Tech pack and I sure as heck don't have LED headlights.

just picked my my 2010 with tech package everything but the led self levelling lights, fog lights and 17 inch tires. the sales manager was going to talk to toyota canada today as we are not the only people complaining. I have auto parking, radar cruise illuminated door edge moulding and blue tooth however I cannot get led lights which they state will save 30-40 percent in power especially when stuck in traffic let alone the simplest things such as fog lights and all for an out the door price of $41,000
That means they may introduce an LED Package but that also means we won't get them unless we buy a new Prius (whenever it comes out) and I don't think I'll be doing that. Would've been nice to have those LED headlights.
