So is it for sure known for *SURE* that they're HID or not.

Can anyone confirm?

yeah, i don't like to get blinded either. i think people sometimes just accidentally turn on they're high beams.

They are HID, but tehy are not projectors. They're a reflector HID, i'm guessing using D2R capsules (bulbs)

However, it's also available in halogen (can't remember which bulb the halogens use, sorry). But if you saw it as pure white light, You most likely saw a HID version

I believe it's running on H3 bulbs. They're not projectors and those models that come with HIDs come with either an automatic (US) or manual (Europe/Japan) headlight levellizer. High beam is actuated by pulling back a cover that allows more light to shine out and at the same time slightly tip the headlight up. Try it next time. Have someone actuated the headlights while you stand at the side of the car looking at the headlight assembly.

You're right... and they're not. HID kits are illegal. HID done the right way (OEM) causes no problems other than whiney people complaining about the sharp contrast.

And the prius has reflector based HID as an option (as a few other people have said). Otherwise they use H4 halogen.
