Tricks to run on electric motor only?

Anyone has tips on how to switch to electric only for short duration? Sometimes I just need to move the car to park at a different spot and really don't need the gas engine on.

How far is the spot and how much "competition" is there for the spot? If it's close and you have time, just touch the accelerator very gently, nudging the vehicle forward at 5 MPH. That usually doesn't get the gas engine going.

Too bad the HiHy doesn't have EV Drive mode (forced EV mode). Well, you have to let the engine come on to warm up, then it'll shut off after it's done (assuming your heater's off, otherwise it'll continue to run). Or, you can shift to drive, move in EV before the engine comes on and once you have enough speed, shift to neutral. As long as it's in neutral, the engine won't come on at start up.
