With just over 24 hours in my new '07 Hihy, I find that on moderate to gentle braking, the brakes grab or pulse. Hard to describe, but as I press on the brakes with a steady pressure, as when making an approach to a traffic light or stop sign, there is a sort of modulation of braking intensity from firm to soft, as though the brakes grab and then let go, grab and let go. I was curious if this is perhaps by design, for instance the generator kicking in to charge the batteries and then letting off, or perhaps warped rotors or what have you. Anyone else have this?
That's the transition from regenerative braking to friction braking.
When regnerating, the electric motor provides the resistance and slows the car down.
When the car switches over from electric motor to the physical brake pads, there's a split second where the car feels like it "gives way" and you lost braking power for that split second.

Yup, that's exactly how it feels. Now that I've been driving for a week (enjoying over 26mpg in normal Boston suburban crawl, as compared to my sub 15mpg in my MDX) I am noticing this much less. Perhaps it is something that "breaks in" as the car is driving, or perhaps I'm just not as freaked out about it "giving way" as I'm approaching stopped vehicles or other obstacles.

I find that there is a slight boost in acceleration when I apply brakes at low speeds (below 40K/h) - this is extremely dangerous when you are braking on black ice as you want to stop under traction control, but the car wants to sightly accelerate! Is it the chage-over to electric that causes a boost? or the engaging of the brakes-charging thing-mi-jig? How can this be fixed?
As stated above, it is the nature of the beast...use the "B" gear to slow yourself down on ice and apply small amount of brake...works great once you get used to it.
