Handling and sway bars

Perhaps all of you Highlander Hybrid owners have noticed: the HH cruises down the highway like a magic carpet, but it hates to turn!

In fact, I consider the understeer and sway that the HH exhibits in turns to be dangerous. Compared to all my other cars, the HH is so reluctant to turn that I have several times nearly gone off the road (LH curves) or crossed the centerline (RH curves) due to the incredible turn-in lag and understeer of this model compared to everything else I am used to driving.

It desperately needs a stiffer rear sway bar, at the very least, to begin to get a handle on this understeer and sway problem. It could proabably use a stiffer front bar, as well, coupled with a much stiffer rear bar, plus stiffer springs and shocks. However, both TRD and the aftermarket (ADDCO, Hellwig, etc.) offer nothing for the late-model Highlanders, let alone the Hybrid. If anybody sees any suspension upgrades available out there, please post. Thanks!

TRD suspension upgrades

Thanks, but given that the Hybrid has an electric motor powering the rear axle as opposed to a driveshaft off of the transmission, I wonder if the rear suspension is the same as the non-hybrid? Do we know if these TRD componenets will work on the Hybrid? And do I just order the parts from a dealer? Thanks!

After you point out the concern for the rear axle, I do the research again and I think there is no TRD suspension upgrade for the highlander hybrid. Not sure will the highlander suspension upgrade fit the hybrid model or not.

Here is link for trd that exclusive for highlander hybrid (which didn't list any parts for suspension upgrade)

Hold on... the 2008 Hybrid is not on the JDM line up.

Kluger is the 07 and before Highlander. They don't have the 08 Highlander in the line up either and they have changed to a Vinguard or something that is totally different.
