if you have
1. lots of time
2. lots of phone numbers
3. numbers to all the right contacts
and
4. accept responsibility for anything taht could go wrong,

then it is pretty easy

doing the paperwork.

Naw getting autocross organized ain't hard... At least I don't think so. Just getting enough people to spread the cost and making sure everybody abides by the rules of the track.

I haven't organized one nor will I ever. I just hate disapointment.

Anybody know where I can get my hands on a set of used 205/50/15 Summer Tires? I heard Lafora is organizing a Track meet this spring

the thing is, imo, if you get it going and it turns out good and people liked it
you'll get people comming back and it'll spread fast.
all or nothing man.
as long as you got teh balls go for it.

I've been thinking about doing this too..but not for AutoX (Solo 2). They have such tight rules and regulations on classes and other stuff, that it seems to be too competitive and less about fun. I like the idea of having a GYMKHANA..the big difference is that nobody gets to know how the track config is, until just before the event starts. Drivers get to look at a map for a short time and they have to REMEMBER how the track goes. I've heard of other versions of the sport where they set up cones..you have to go thru each one, but the order is up to you. And other versions where drift/donuts is the emphasis... I'm sure there'd be other combinations...and this would make it a lot more fun than the days-old version of AutoX IMO.

thats what i had in mind jover. cuz i don't think the autox guys like ppl sliding and knocking down 50 billion cones over at once.

didn't wanna exactly spill everything out cuz i don't want it to bust in my face...but i gotta start looking at "prospect" lots

their are probably 40 or 50 Autox events over the summer by the various clubs in the GTA. These are almost always open to the public.

The hardest thing in this area is to get the real estate. And almost every event has a zero tollerance for burnouts and sideways action(...sux).

Mosport have been renting out the skid pad and parking lot over at the driver development track for solo2, not sure but if anyone is gonna let us get sideways, it will be these guys...only catch is expensive compared to usual Solo2 arrangements.

It is alot of work organizing these events, you need space, timing equipment, pylons, marshalls, advertising ..etc. etc.

It seems each year their are less and less places allowing people to use their asphalt.

Neil

I remember doing an Autocross event in a parking lot mall years ago. I think it was when Sunday shopping wasn't as wide spread or wasn't avaiable at that mall. I think other than school/community centres.

1. Drive around, looking for spots that can hold a decent course. Try old airports...make sure the area has cell-phone reception or a payphone nearby.
2. Call them up, ask for permission, ask how much it'll cost.
3. Look for sample waiver forms on the internet and copy them, making custom changes, and print them.
4. Make flyers, distribute them at schools.
