For anyone interested, there is a lapping day this coming weekend on Saturday, August 18th. I have to double check the times, but I think it's between 5pm and 9pm.
I'm not sure about the configuration of the track or whether helmets will be needed or not, but spectators are free. Cost per driver is $60.
There should be quite a number of cars in attendance. I'm heading down in the in the afternoon with a few of my AE86 buddies. It will take a little less than 2 hours to get to Shannonville from Toronto.
hey kevin sorry about the no showing this season for me and my ae92.
please take a camera, i know you are short on cash so i will do the processing.. and i know you and me have similar tastes.. take some pics of the track etc the cars. kinda like last time ok!?
Hehe, I'll get Ken (sPoonN AE86) to do it. He's the camera dude. I'm looking to get a good quality digital camera by next season so I can do some fine photography at the track. Not to mention, my final Photoshop touches.
My family has a really bad camera. I can only capture distant shots without them blurring up.
Don't worry, I'm not that poor. I'm sure my parents will pay for any photo developement I have. The only thing they won't pay for is anything on my AE86. Damn
In my most huble of opinions, nothing beats the quality of a 35mm slr. The ability to adjust aperture and shutter speed and also push or pull film for grain, are characeteristics of photography that digital cams have yet to duplicate.
i guess i'm just a purist at heart, but i would rather invest good money in a 35 mm, even a medium or large format camera and some good lenses and scan the photos. Mind you, i've seen some really good digi cams....but i think the better the quality, the higher the price per usual.
a good 35mm with a a wide-angle lense would cost you around $700 - $800.
a digi cam....$600 - $1600 for your run of the mill future shop digi.
digis are convenient...but they are no way better than the real thing! not unless you want to spend something like $4000 and even so, theres a certain essence they can't capture.
Its like efi and carbs.....nothing can quite replace that induction noise of side drafts!
George, I think, is into photography right? I wouldn't mind getting the non-digital cameras. SLR, whatever. I wanted one last summer and they go pretty cheap. But I'm no good in photography and have no training in taking photographys so I don't want to waist my money on taking pictures that just won't turn out right.
Anything will do for me. As long as it's cheap in the long run. But a digital camera alone can cost as much as some AE86s!
Aiya, no money ar!
Kevin

Oh by the way, if you are still surfing on this board check the general discussion for my reply to your post. I left my number there.
I'll call you, or you call me, or whatever. We're going to probably have lunch in the afternoon together and try to do the final prep on Ken's (sPooN aE86) car. Then head out at 3:00 - 3:30 to Shannonville.
